Apparently we surprised Pastor Joel when we showed up at Iglesia Alpha Y Omega in Corpus Christi for church this morning. We slipped in the back door, took our seat near the back, and thought we would enter the English speaking service relatively unnoticed (ha ha). Hortencia (Pastor Joel’s wife) immediately discovered us sitting there, came rushing over, and in very fluid English reminded Tim he was supposed to send an email. She had been checking the email daily, in hopes that he would announce his coming. No email. They were surprised to see us there. She disappeared, then a few minutes later she returned, asked him to join the pastor in his office, and whisked him away.
Surprise? When you are asked to join the pastor in his office, it is akin to being asked to the principal’s office. Not really, but that’s how it felt (ha ha). We surprised Pastor Joel and his congregation by our attendance, and he surprised Tim by asking him to bring the morning message! It just so happened that their guest speaker for the day was unable to make it. God’s timing is perfect! Tim spoke on prayer, and through an interpreter shared a message that blessed the congregation. While it was a great experience, Tim said from now on he will send an email.
The worship was phenomenal! Some great talent is tucked away in Corpus Christi Texas. Hidden talent becomes evident through their worship. God’s spirit is moving in this place as Scripture 11 (their worship band) and their dance team express themselves through instruments and routines. Each member on stage puts their heart and soul into the music, and we were truly blessed. After the service one of the band members gifted us with t-shirts and CDs of their music. Their original music is a mixture of rock and alternative – top notch. What a blessing!

and you are so right about the music there
I really enjoyed making connections with the wonderful people of Alpha Y Omega
