This is the view we came home to after chemo. Yes, that is a bulldozer. Yes, it is next door to our house. This is our luck. We rented this home because it was a quiet and serene environment. Our lovely little rental sat fourteen years surrounded by tall pines on empty lots accompanied by only a couple of other houses on the street. Three weeks after we moved in, D.R. Horton bought ten lots on the street. Just two months later, the whole neighborhood has turned into a construction zone, lovingly nicknamed “Hortonville.”
Actually the two lots in this picture will house a custom build (not D.R. Horton). As long as we can ignore our dog barking at every bang of the hammers and nail guns, it should be fun to watch it go up. The street is still beautiful, and it will soon be complete with large homes, attractive finishes, and new neighbors. We are considering a purchase where we wouldn’t have far to move when the lease runs out. Like the saying goes….If you can’t beat ’em, buy one!
