Benefits of Bald

This is me.  Taken April 2013.

Now that I have finished my chemo, my looks will start changing again.  Here’s what I have seen in the mirror every day for the past 6 months (although I don’t always wear make-up).

I admit, I have grown to love my bald head.  I do have some very fine hair growing back in.  It feels like peach fuzz, and I finally quit shaving it off.  It’s still very, very, very, very short!  However, I have grown to love it!  Ten benefits of being bald:

1) No hair to blow in my face, tangle, or creep under my goggles while riding the Harley.

2) 20 minutes or less to get ready, from shower to make-up.  Sometimes only 10!

3) My head is much cooler when I step outside in the fresh air.

4) I don’t have to worry about “bad hair days.”

5) My shower doesn’t have hair to clean up after I use it.

6) I can take pictures without my hair getting in front of the camera.

7) It’s fun to see the looks on people’s faces when I take off my ball cap in public.  (Senior discounts apply.)

8) I don’t have to shave (yes, my legs are bald too).

9) I can wear a wig and no one knows the difference.

10) I can see my head for the first time in my life.

I’m sure there are others, and these are not in any particular order, but you can see there are many benefits to being bald!  I have been embracing the temporarily new me. I’m still me, just a little different on the outside.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  I Samuel 16:7 ESV
