While You Were Sleeping

Thanks Jena for the beautiful basket!

Thanks Jena for the beautiful basket!

After my long, much-needed, three-hour afternoon nap, I woke up to this beautiful gift basket.  For those who still have their long-term memory intact, you may recall my college friend Jena and I had planned a visit while I was in the hospital – July 8th. But when surgery was delayed–yada, yada–and a long-story made short, we had to cancel her trip.  The next best thing, this basket combines many goodies in life – a flowering plant, some body scrub, and sweet treats.  I see at least two cookies with my name on them. 🙂

After a trip to The Woodlands and a stop for lunch, I was wiped out.  Each speed bump coming home sent a shock wave throughout my right side.  When I stepped out of the car into our garage, my belt came loose and the drain tubes fell, basically hanging by a stitch. Needless to say, I am a little sore today.  We ventured out for the first time in a week; Herceptin was on my calendar.  Dr. Rourke said I could go if I feel up to it, and since I felt up to it…we decided to stay on schedule with my infusions for the rest of the year.  It felt good to get out of the house.

A Bit of Royal Trivia.  Unless you live under a rock, you know by now that Kate had her little prince.  He was 2 ounces heavier than my son at birth.  She and Princess Diana both wore polka dots when they announced their firstborn to the public for the first time. No British Monarch has been named Louis until now (more common in France).  The couple named him George Alexander Louis, so in essence he is quite a GAL.  Ba-dump-bump.

Seriously, I’m glad I don’t have to live in England or have a British heritage to enjoy royalty.  “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (I Peter 2:9 NIV)  and “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory” (Romans 8:17 NIV).

À la prochaine (Until next time) …
