Today is our 28th anniversary. Woo Hoot! We took Tim’s mom to Addison (near Dallas) last night, then met up with one of the grandkids who is driving her home today. Then we drove home as well. At the hotel breakfast buffet she asked what it took for us to stay together 28 years? Commitment. We both agreed. It’s not a googley-eyed kind of love that keeps an old couple married (although we both still look at each other much the same way we did when we met). It’s a deeper love that comes with long-term commitment, regardless of one’s circumstances in life. It’s a commitment to faithfulness and longevity of relationship. Commitment to play together, pray together, and stay together.
So, we are going out tonight. Fatigue is already setting in at 3:00 in the afternoon. Maybe it’s the drive or maybe it’s the sugar crash from the ice cream cone I had on the way home. Or maybe it’s the radiation I started two days ago. I think this calls for an afternoon nap. I am determined to celebrate the anniversary of this happy day in our lives, and I know we will enjoy it. 🙂

We decided to do a little shopping to provide some “in-home” entertainment. We bought a new TV for our bedroom (Best Buy had some great sales going on!), went to Weng’s Wok for dinner (fantastic food if you’ve never eaten there), and watched Couple’s Retreat with the benefit of our new sound bar. It was a beautiful night and very much appreciated! I’m so happy to say I’ve been married to the same wonderful guy for all these years. I hope we have 28+ more to come!
À la prochaine (Until next time) …
