Today is the first day of school. I was surprised when she agreed to let me take her picture. It was dark when we walked her to the bus stop for an expected pick-up at 6:15 AM. We didn’t have far to go, just two doors down. Tim and I both went, met a neighbor, and met the bus driver (Ms. “Ria”). Wow how this year has flown by! I can’t believe my little girl is in the tenth grade. She got her schedule and has no idea where her classes are, so she will take a scavenger hunt to find them. In ninth grade they attended a different campus on Montgomery High School property, so this will be an experience! At least others will be searching along side her. She’s taking theatre and art in addition to the required basics, in hopes of a fun year.
Here are pictures of some of Elizabeth’s summer activities. It’s always fun when summer comes, but we are just as happy when it is over. We are looking forward to the daily routine that comes with the school year.
Elizabeth volunteered at a week-long horse camp. She was a big helper for all the kids. At the end of the week the vet taught her how to give a horse a shot. Not many kids can say this!
I am very proud of our Elizabeth. She’s so beautiful both inside and out. A fifteen year old should never have to watch her mother go through the things we have endured, but she has never complained. She has a heart of gold.
When I ask her for a favor, she gets up and does it without even questioning my motives. When we walk to and from the car, she immediately reaches out her arm and lends me her strength. She has helped with dinner, and some of the cleaning. She always has a smile, even when she’s not feeling her best. She has been one of my biggest supporters during our battle against cancer.
Elizabeth attended the Leadership Summit in Oklahoma with a bunch of other teen leaders from across the nation. Here they are taking down a house damaged by the recent tornadoes as part of their volunteer work. It was at this conference where Elizabeth met her boyfriend (Tim prefers to think of him as a friend). He lives in Indiana, so we believe that’s the best kind of boyfriend our daughter can have! We met on Google Chat one day while I was recovering from surgery, and he seems like a very nice young man who treats our daughter with respect. It can’t hurt that he’s also good at Algebra! 🙂
I know she will do exceptionally well in school, and I look forward to an exciting year to come! We love you Elizabeth! May God richly bless you in your Sophomore year.
Enjoy your new school experience Elizabeth. I have enjoyed seeing your photo progression through this year. Praying for all of you.
You are blessed to have such a husband and daughter by your side. You can be very proud of Liz, and I am sure you are.
She sounds like a wonderful daughter. Good Luck this year, Elizabeth!
