Cool story – I was talking with the social worker at Moffitt when she was trying to find a place for Mom. She didn’t give much hope that Mom would get transferred the same day. She would have to make some phone calls and see what she could do, but we might have to stay at the hospital another night. I looked at her eyes and said, “I will pray that God’s favor will be upon you while you make those phone calls.” She was not impressed, but she told me I could pray if I wanted to.
About two hours later she came to the room with a spring in her step, “You aren’t going to believe this. They found a bed and they are moving her today. The ambulance will be here at 6:15 to transport her.” I reminded her I had prayed for God’s favor, so yes, I did believe it. She grinned from ear to ear, “You did, didn’t you!” Lord help her disbelief. This was 5:00, so they were coming soon. They got Mom dressed and she had some dinner, and that concluded our days at Moffitt.
So they transported her to Lane Purcell Hospice House. They tried to get her into Tavares where she asked to go, but there were not beds available. In fact they have a waiting list. But the Tavares location only takes you for a short term, then they transfer you out to assisted living or nursing home. Lane Purcell is more relaxed and the social worker thought we might be able to keep her here for the duration. I like that much better.
It’s very quiet here. Lane Purcell in the country, in the middle of nowhere. No traffic is heard, nor jets flying overhead. I am already impressed with this place. The level of care, their attention to my mom’s needs, and the facility are all outstanding. They were very welcoming and even made me a BLT since I missed dinner. She has a lanai attached to her room with a beautiful view of the rose garden and rock fountain. There is a pull out couch in her room and I can sleep here, although it doesn’t look very comfortable. Tomorrow I will go to her house and pick up some nighties and personal belongings so she can feel at home.
The address in case you want to visit or send her a card is as follows: Lane Purcell Hospice House, 2452 CR 526E, Sumterville, Florida, 33585. Please feel free to visit. She and I would welcome the company! However it would be great if you could message or call me first so we can spread out the visits whenever possible. You can call the front desk at Lane Purcell and ask to speak to me if you don’t have my cell number.
Good-night!
