He Loves Me

Our only rain day - under an overpass in northern Pennsylvania

Our only rain day – under an overpass in northern Pennsylvania two days ago

Today we traveled on Interstate most of the day. We don’t really like to travel on Interstate, but we wanted to get far down the road quickly. We have a free night in Residence Inn, Nashville, TN, then tomorrow we are starting on the Natchez Trace Parkway. It’s been a great trip, and hard to believe we are nearing the finish line of our vacation together.

I’m reminded of an old Beatles’ tune, she loves you, yeah yeah yeah. Tim loves me, and he proves it to me daily. He carries our bags and makes sure we have the best room for the money. He offers me a hand to get on the bike, assists my leg over, and helps me off at every stop. It is much harder getting on and off the bike since chemo and gaining weight, so this means a lot! He doesn’t complain. He just reaches out his hand, waits for me to gear up, and helps me on or off the bike. We have it down to a routine. I am on first, and off last. This works for us.

When I comment on my tailbone going numb, he pulls into the nearest rest stop. He lets me take the first shower, and takes our clothes to the laundry. He offers me some of his french fries at lunch. He splits his donut, and gives me the bigger piece. Whenever possible, he gets off the Interstate in search of greater scenery. And he slows down so I can take some pictures. At times, he even stops and plays along. I know he loves me because he tells me so.  He tells me with his words, as well as his actions.

He loves me, yeah, yeah, yeah, and with a love like that you know you should be glad!
