Today is the fourth day of our long summer ride. It is Sunday, July 5, 2015. Kick-stand up (KSU) at 7:15 in Flagstaff, Arizona, with warmer temperatures heading into Las Vegas. We stayed at the SLS in Las Vegas, the newest hotel. We thought it was a Hilton property, but they have an agreement with Hilton…not the same. The check-in line was like waiting for a theme park ride. And they were not very motorcycle friendly. However, the room was very nice and we got an excellent rate. We had Thai food for dinner, and pretty much crashed after that.
On the way to Las Vegas we took a detour and rode for about an hour on historic Route 66. Beautiful scenery! One day we want to ride the entire length (from Chicago to Los Angeles). One day…
Crossing over the Colorado River into Nevada we considered stopping at the Hoover Dam, until we saw the very long line of cars waiting to go through their security screening. It was over 100 degrees by this time, and very high winds, so moving on seemed to be the best option. It would be cool to ride over the Dam. One day…
We made it all the way to Nevada without any rain. We were praying for clouds by the time we got there, as this was one of the hottest days yet. But, there was a zero percent chance of rain the whole time. Here’s what zero percent chance of rain looks like in Las Vegas.
We managed to grab a few ABC points along the way including:
Two Harley Davidson dealerships (Red Rock and Kingman),
One state (Nevada),
One city (Flagstaff), and
One national forest (Kaibab National Forest)
for a total of FIVE points.
…Until next time…
