Today we rode “on the range, where the deer and antelope play, where seldom was heard a discouraging word, and the sky was not cloudy all day.”
The first two and a half days were spent getting out of Texas, so this is the first day really worth writing about anyway. Here goes!
Day Three Stats – Destination: Raton, New Mexico. Starting point: Lubbock, Texas. ABC Via points: New Mexico State, Quay County, NM (Q), Union County, NM (U), Capulin Volcano National Monument (National Park), and Raton, NM (R). Roughly 360 miles and 5 points logged today. Our goal is to beat last year’s score, and we are almost there already.
Tomorrow’s plan was to drive up I-25, but we see that fires near Pikes Peak have forced mandatory evacuations in Colorado Springs. Looks like we might have to divert to avoid the smoke and traffic.
I’m just testing out the comments. If you are reading our blog, let us know. 🙂
