Closed, Sold, and On the Road

Our house closed yesterday!  We were not holding our breath, because it was supposed to sell in May but fell through a day before closing.  So we waited to give you the update until we knew for sure it was a ‘done deal’.  This leaves a lot of questions in people’s minds.  We’ll answer them as quickly as we can, since we are packing and moving today and tomorrow.  By the way, if you are available to help with some heavy lifting, Tim could use your help tomorrow.

Q: Where are you moving to?  A: We are not moving to anywhere.  We are going to travel for the next year in a fifth wheel.  For those who are not as fluent in RV-language, it is a very long trailer pulled by a very big truck.

Q:  Which RV are you buying?  A:  We have narrowed it down to two, and the best bunkhouse bargain will win, tomorrow.

Q: Why are you doing this?  A: Because we can?  It is an opportunity which most families cannot afford.  Without a house payment, our costs of travel are greatly decreased and we have a chance to meet with people in a unique way.  Cindy is continuing to work online, so she can work from anywhere as long as she has internet access.  We also want to provide a hands-on ministry approach to the Church of God congregations around Texas over the next year, in an effort to build connections and learn more about the culture and ministry of each church family.

Q:  Where will you stay?  A:  We are primarily traveling around the state of Texas, as Tim is State Administrator for the Texas General Assembly.  We plan to stay in various locations across the state for 2-3 weeks at a time, or longer, where there is a “hub” of Church of God congregations in each location.

Q: Where will Elizabeth go to school?  A:  We have enrolled Elizabeth in the Texas Connections Academy, a virtual Texas approved public school where she will have teachers, curriculum, and activities that match all other Texas public schools.  We will also be more closely involved in her education as we “road school” her on various learning trips.

That’s all for now.  We hope you follow us around the state as we minister to churches.  Please continue to pray for our family.

Well..sounds like a plan then! I’m sure you will have a lot of fun along the way and some challenges as well since this is something new and different. Your “home on the road”. LOL

Yes, Patty! Home on the Road. If we buy the Open Range we can say “Home on the Range.” Looks like we will sign papers tomorrow on a Silverback, but the Open Range was a consideration. We’ll post pictures of our new home as soon as we get settled.
