We started a new category today, because the topic of marriage and family has become more prominent in our lives recently. Don’t get us wrong. We have always focused on our marriage and our family, and I have always had a systemic approach to life, but lately it is a recurring theme.
For example, earlier this month I attended the national conference of AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists), where thousands of marriage and family therapists convene from around the globe. The weather in Charlotte was beautiful all week, and I met lots of people with similar visions for the future.
Last week as a couple we presented an all-day marriage conference to 15 couples in the Houston area. “Hitched: The Conference for an Uncommon Marriage” was well-received. We are already booking other dates around Texas to present this popular event.
And from a professional standpoint, I have recently been promoted at work! This was totally unexpected and out of the blue. I now have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of several hundred learners who are advancing their careers in marriage and family therapy. Remember: the best gift you can give your children is a healthy and long-lasting marriage!
Family events have been numerous in September as well. Elizabeth turned 15 on the 7th, Cindy turned ….ahem… on the 9th, and Tim had a birthday on the 17th. It’s an annual time of festivities. And today, we drove to Arkansas where we had dinner with Tim’s mom and shared a big cinnamon roll at Panera Bread. She is doing well. The only problem with our family visit: it was just too short!
We are now on our way to Minneapolis. More on that later!
Life is good in the West household!
Please leave a comment if you would like to learn more on how to book a “Hitched” marriage conference in your area. Prayers are also appreciated!
