Now that we are living in Montgomery, it is a much quicker drive to the farm for Elizabeth’s riding lessons. We finally got started back up and Elizabeth couldn’t be happier. She did o.k. for the first time on a horse in, wow, almost a year. Time has flown! This was evidenced by her tendency to let Dolly get the upper hand at times, but it was good to see her back in the saddle again.
Spring has sprung at the farm, and there were babies everywhere…of the four legged kind that is. First we enjoyed the newest baby horse, who is still nameless, although Della wants to call her “Spoon” after the white mark on her head. She belongs to “Brown Horse.”
Gotta love the names of these animals…
After Elizabeth’s lesson we took a stroll to see Casey and her kittens. This particular barn cat was named after Casey Anthony, I am told, as she tends to “kill” her babies (more likely give them up to the dog). Sad, but true! Hopefully she will have better luck with this litter! They are in a safe place. A large flower pot protects them on the porch, so the odds are in her favor.
Another eventful day in the West family, Bryan has decided to come home to live for a while. It’s good to have him home! I look forward to the additional help while I am healing, and now we have a fourth for Scrabble and Settlers of Catan. We are looking forward to celebrating Easter as a family tomorrow!
