Moving Week

You may remember a recent Facebook post of mine, “the unfortunate moment when you realize you signed an 8 month lease, not 6.”  That was not a fun moment.  This unfortunate realization came 2 weeks after we had closed on a new house and used our savings for the down payment.  We thought we would have about 3-4 weeks to move in, take it slow, and then make our first payment just after our lease ran out.  But we weren’t planning on double payments for two additional months.  Plus, we couldn’t just abandon the rental.  Yet we want to live in our new home.  Our brains are not firing on all pins these days.  We have never made that kind of a mistake before.  Lesson learned.

Our New Home.

Our New Home.

No matter how difficult things may seem, there is always an upside!  This is better for us, as we will be moved in before I have surgery.  It is also good for the Landlord. Summer is easier to find renters.  Luckily she agreed to start looking.  Two days later, the first couple who stopped by decided to rent!  The new tenants want to move in on the 29th, a few days sooner than we had planned, much preferred over two months later.  God is good!

A few carloads have trickled to the new house each day, unpacking as we go.   I have had a fair bit of energy this month, and have already moved most of my stuff.   It’s so much easier moving a few miles down the road than across the country.  It requires fewer boxes!  So far, this move is less stressful than any move in the past, even with all the other stuff going on.

We scheduled the movers to move our furniture this Friday, May 24th.  (In case you are keeping track, that’s the day after I get my next dose of FEC as long as my counts are up.)  My new office furniture arrived last week — I have already started working in this new place — and the kitchen is half-way there as well.  Quite a bit has trickled from one house to the other.  We are well on our way to living in our new home!

Some of you, our dear friends, have made plans to come and visit before, during and after surgery.  Now we will have a place for you to sleep, with your own private bathroom.  Texas is a great state to visit!  We have no plans to leave this home in the foreseeable future, however we are always open to God’s plans.  Once we get settled I will post some inside pictures.

If you would like our new address, please post a comment and I will email you privately.
