“Ah, You’re One of Those.”

“Any pain?” my nurse asked.  “No, not really.”  I was very sensitive to the touch on Saturday and Sunday, as if a tiny poke would create a massive bruise, but no pain to speak of.  Fortunately the sensitivity also wore off after a couple of days and the hugs of my family members, and my nurse, were once again enjoyable.

“Any nausea?”  I shook my head.  “Ah, you’re one of those,” she said with a smile, seemingly pleased at my response.  Apparently I’m one of the lucky few.  I have had very little side effects and kept on going without much of a hiccup.  Well, I did actually have the hiccups but those went away as well.

“I have a lot of people praying for me,” I reminded her.  She nodded and acknowledged this truth.  I truly believe the prayers that are lifted up on my behalf daily have helped ease the side effects of the chemotherapy.  I also believe these prayers are what keep my attitude positive.  I know God is in the midst of this treatment, as well as my healing.  Thank you!

Apparently there is some (probably unscientific) correlation between nausea when you are pregnant, and nausea when you do chemo.  I was one of the lucky ones who rarely got sick while pregnant.  So at least for me this is a positive correlation.

She thanked me for the double chunk chocolate chip cookie, and gave me a hug.  This was a quick infusion, 30 minutes of Herceptin, and then off we went for a little window shopping.  We were pleased to find Elizabeth was finished with her homework when we got home.  Mommy and daughter watched two episodes of Once Upon a Time together.  All in all it has been a good day.
