Another one bites the dust

I’m finishing my 11th treatment of chemo on Paclitaxel and Herceptin.  One more and then we start on FEC every three weeks (I still have to do Herceptin weekly).  As you know I was in the hospital Monday after passing out, and a then discharged on Tuesday after fluids made me almost as good as new. I’m drinking water like crazy to ward off any possible dehydration.

It is comforting to know there are so many people who support cancer patients.  I picked up a free beanie to keep my head warm a few weeks ago, and today, a really nice blanket was given to me, hand made by the local Charity League.

So today I discovered another MD Anderson policy.  If anyone goes in the hospital for any reason, new orders have to be signed for treatment.  They had drawn my blood, accessed my port, and I was telling the nurse how much better I was feeling since leaving the hospital when she stopped in her tracks.  “You were in hospital?” (It helps if you hear it in her British accent.)  “Woah, we don’t have the new orders.”  Made me wish I hadn’t said anything because we then had to wait another hour before she could start my treatment.  It’s now 4:45 and she is flushing the final fluid which means we’ll be leaving just in time for rush hour.  Praying our daughter has started on her homework before we get there.
