Texas to Seattle – Day 6 – Hardate 15188.6.1

Day 5 Yermo and Kern…in addition to California. I don’t know what happened to that blog!

Day 6 Ride through the National Forest (1 ABC point) up the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and around all the windy trails. We felt like we rode the Tail of the Dragon for 300+ miles! Chipmunks (or squirrels, I don’t know which), elephant seals, a lighthouse, scenic overlooks, Beautiful beaches and rugged coastline. Turn a corner and you get another site.

Very cold day today, with lots of sunshine, shaded forests, and beautiful riding weather. It was a long day, but the scenery and cool weather made it easy to stay on the bike for the duration.

Spent night in Fort Ross Lodge, where there is no cellular service and wi-fi is spotty. There is no breakfast and the general store was about to close, so we quickly bought some things for breakfast. Tim located our favorite donuts (which we cannot get back home) and I was happy we would have them for breakfast along with the milk and tea. Before we took showers we went for a walk to the break and found two chairs where we sat in front of the setting sun and prayed. Crashing waves, wild vegetation, colorful sky, and a nice walk back to the room which is our home for the night.

We realized we can’t make it to our Thursday destination so we tried to cancel…of course that is challenging to do with no cellular service! So we “liked” them on Facebook and sent them a message. At least we tried! Hoping they let us stay Friday night instead.

We are 900 miles from Coupeville, where we planned to start the Cascade Loop. Tomorrow looks like the road will start to straighten out, although still a bit twisty in parts.
