Praise the Lord, it seems to be working! Prayer is working. The chemo is working. All the things we are doing to fight this awful disease are already taking effect.
I went in for my follow-up with the oncologist today (Dr. Coscio). She was “amazed” at how well my body is responding after so few treatments. When she measured it seems the lump has dropped significantly in size (from 9 to 6 cm now) and she was unable to feel any swelling of the lymph nodes. The redness has completely disappeared from the breast, and it is no longer swollen or painful. Really, I noticed a difference after the first or second treatment, but it feels good to hear her say it as well.
We are still on the same path and will continue with chemo for 6 months, followed by a mastectomy. I asked about a double, and she said there is no reason to do that. I only have cancer in one breast, and the other is still fine. No reason to fix something that isn’t broken, and the risk of cancer in the other breast is minimal. Radiation sounds like it will still happen, but at this point we will wait and see.
I know it is the Lord making the chemo work more effectively. He is listening to the prayers of the Saints. He is looking down and answering our prayers. The doctor is amazed, and I look forward to giving Him even more glory as we move forward in treatment. Please keep the prayers coming! Thank you all!
