Traveling in an F350 without the RV attached is an adventure all of its own, especially in the downtown areas. The hotel staff in Minneapolis were befuddled as to how or where we should park it, as the clearance in their garage was too low. “There's a lot down the street,” chirped one female staffer. Yeah, right. The lot was where she pointed, but they did not accept overnight parking. After considerable confusion and consternation we decided to fly the truck out to airport parking and take a scenic ride on the light rail back. Of course Tim was less than enthused about these options and expressed these concerns to the hotel's Assistant General Manager. Much to his credit, the AGM got busy and found suitable parking for our rig–compliments of the hotel at that! A nice platter of assorted sweet and salted goodies were waiting for us in our room after that event as well. They did take good care of us there.
Parallel parking in front of a museum is a challenge, but Tim found an end spot on the curb a few blocks from Lincoln's Historic site. We are on our way to St. Louis as we blog, and while there is a garage with seven-foot clearance right next door to the Gateway Arch, we have also scoped out the open lots. This would provide us with some much needed exercise — if only the weather didn't turn so cold (39 degrees this morning, pushing 50 for the high).
