HARDATE 15183.6.2 This is the Captain’s Log. We had planned a long trip with our friends, for the Blue Ridge Parklway and Outer Banks. But, Rob threw out his back so we had a change of plans. We looked at the map and saw rain headed in our original path, so we decided to head west instead. This is the first day of our long summer trip, and our sixth ABC trip of the year. We have plans to go to the Grand Canyon, up the Pacific Coast Highway, and around the Cascade Loop. First day we rode 400+ miles from our home in Montgomery to Snyder, Texas. We picked up two ABC points, and figured if we get 2-3 per day we will have quite a collection at the end of the trip. We passed by a museum devoted to Bill the Kid in Hico, Texas. We were wearing our Cut-n-Shoot vests when we went through Waco, Texas, but we didn’t get off the road due to the recent events between the two biker gangs.
Wearing colors may be misleading. Some folks get scared any time they see someone with Harley clothing. In fact, we’ve heard some stories so we try to educate folks wherever we ride. We do not belong to a gang. We belong to a HOG chapter. These are clubs associated with local dealerships, and we have one thing in common…we like to ride. HOG chapters are not gangs like the one percenters (Hell’s Angels and Banditos) involved in the Waco shootings.
ABCs count on Day 1 of our big summer ride….
2 Counties: Brazos and Falls
Until next time….
