Last Chapter?

The threat of rain forced us to ride in the cage.  Nearly as many cars and trucks sat in the Legion Hall parking lot as did motorcycles, further evidencing this “family” sticks together come rain or shine.  People clad in leather, tattoos, and Harley paraphernalia may not seem approachable, but underneath that cow-skinned veneer beats the heart of a deeply devoted community of people–loyal to one another, country, family, and a way of life.

Having served in the church professionally for over 25 years, we have been amazed at the “spiritual” way in which this group approaches life on the road.  If good works would permit someone’s entrance into heaven, Shooters would certainly be some of the first in line. On this somber thought we left the chapter meeting with mixed emotions.

Our last meeting…for a while

Today was potentially our last HOG chapter meeting, for a while anyway.  Looking at our upcoming travel schedule, the calendar does not offer opportunities to go.  We quickly scooted to the stage with the others who had a “ride report” to share.  The crowd cheered as Cindy told them our trip mileage tally, and laughed as Tim shared the Laramie, Wyoming HOG Rally story.  We proudly displayed our banner for all to see, aided by the CNS Chapter president: “Thank you” was the imprinted message beside the State Rally Logo.  Perhaps it was a communique’ from the Regional Manager to the entire Cut and Shoot chapter, since we chose not to steal a banner but asked politely for one instead.  Plenty of other banner bandits displayed their spoils in the meeting, but in our opinion our story was the best, and according the mileage reports, we rode the furthest … this time.

Cloe, our French daughter for three weeks, said she loved her ride to Willis and back on the Harley. Can you tell?

Back at the home front our new French daughter was offered a ride.  The rain never did come, and it was perfect riding weather, so Tim took her on a cruise to Willis and back.  Tim said she was quiet on the back (unlike his wife), and he almost forgot she was there.  This picture expresses her excitement as they returned from the 30 minute trip.

Since we finished blogging our Harley Davidson adventures of two weeks on the road, this may be a good time to tell you that we are soon embarking on a new chapter in life.  Stay tuned for more, but suffice it to say, this will be an adventure like none other!

Thanks for reading our blog!
