We are on our way to Mobile, Alabama! On the Harley, that is. We left after Elizabeth got home from school, said our good-byes, and rode to Lake Charles, Louisiana. Kristi will stay with her while we ride. The weather was perfect, with a few cool spots and fluffy clouds to make it interesting. One big cloud looked threatening as we rode to the east, but only spit on us a little bit. Tomorrow we are riding to Mobile to meet Rob and Dawn. It’s their first road trip on their new bike, and we are SO excited to share this experience with them. I’m riding in celebration of survivor hood. It is my Victory Ride!
Arrival in Lake Charles was a bit less than desirable. As it turns out, if you put the wrong city into the GPS, it will take you to someone’s house. LOL! We ended up in Lake Charles, NOT at our hotel, and realized too late that we had passed our intended destination for the night. Cancelled that reservation and ended up at a Holiday Inn. Tim talked them into a discount since they weren’t very busy, as we really didn’t want to drive around looking for a place to stay. It’s a nice hotel, and we got a good deal. But it was not as good as we would have gotten at the Marriott on our son’s employee discount. At least we saved a bit longer in the saddle. They gave us a special covered parking spot for the bike, right out front. Came to the room and the keys didn’t work. Tim was so sweet to go back and get new ones while I stayed with our stuff. What a night!
We finally got a shower and ready for bed. Looking forward to a beautiful ride tomorrow!!
À la prochaine (Until next time) …
