I woke up with the taste of Herceptin in my mouth. It’s a metallic flavor, not exactly appealing to the senses. Sometimes I wonder if the chemical odor oozes from my body. At times like these, nature serves as the best pick-me-up.
It’s the Fourth of July, so we started our day with a walk. According to Runkeeper, it was 1.9 miles to the front gate and back. It’s a beautiful morning, 69 degrees and warming up.
I love living in the country, where the deer and jackrabbits play. Even though we live in a subdivision, there is a whole family of deer abiding in the woods just around the corner from our house. The buck wearing six or seven points along with several does and a fawn travel together from one clearing to the other. They are such graceful animals! They saw us coming, so I didn’t get the picture perfect photo I was hoping for.
Tim went for a ride, the kids are still asleep, and I am blogging from my new office watching the many birds who have made our feeder their daily breakfast buffet. Finches, cardinals, cowbirds, swallows, and the red-headed woodpeckers (who don’t know how to share) flit around and chirp feverishly as they indulge themselves. A self-proclaimed nerd entertained by bird-watching, I am so amused to observe their behaviors!
Aside, after watching White House Down last night–an appropriate 4th of July movie–I’m not sure I should still call this a “blog” (haha).
Happy Fourth of July everyone!
